The Queen Bed Frame Selection Guide

By Ana Vralli

When it comes to the queen bed frame it seems as though it should be relatively easy to pick one out. With all the time and energy you have to put into selecting the right queen mattress the bed frame doesn't seem quite as relevant. For a mattress you have to lay on it, turn on it, go lay on another one, flip about, and then find another one to lay on. It's a process, no doubt.

The queen frame, however, isn't quite as reliant upon human contact to determine its level of comfort. Yet, the support that the frame offers the mattress can in fact change the comfort level of the bed you just bought. Typically, the box spring lies on the frame. The frame is generally a rectangular shape that it just a bit smaller than the box spring. This gives the mattress all around support without giving it cross section support.

There are other bed frames that include slats that go across the underside of the mattress to make the bed a little firmer. People with back problems tend to go with the bed frame with slats because it provides a strong platform for the mattress. Basically, this means that your bed is firmer, which results in less sagging in the middle of the mattress.

The crazy thing is that you can end up spending just as much money on your bed frame as your mattress and box spring. However, you don't necessarily have to go down this expensive route. Really, what's the difference between a high end queen bed frame and the less expensive version? It's mostly just looks, branding, and marketing that drives the larger price differences. Granted, a more expensive bed frame may be a bit stronger, but not so strong that it justifies the premium price.

Some people are very particular about the way the frame looks. While it's not likely to ever be seen during the winter months when you've piled some heavier and longer blankets on the bed. It may be seen during the summer months if you don't skirt the lower part of the mattress and the bed frame.

With a simple skirting no one will ever have to see the queen bed frame. In fact, they won't be looking under the bed, either. The skirting covers the box spring, the frame, and the space in between the frame and the floor. It allows for a certain amount of privacy when it comes to your bed. A skirt also means that you can go with the metal bed frame that is less expensive but doesn't qualify as upscale decor by any means.

The frame size does vary by several inches depending on the brand and model. You can adjust most of these frames width and lengthwise to make sure that it can fit on most beds.

Once considered the utmost in luxury accommodations, the bed is now considered to be a necessity and has not been reserved for royalty or the wealthy for many generations now. The queen bed frame can end up being the absolute most comfortable and popular size we have in the United States. - 29958
