By Ava C Conner

Prior to constructing your closet storage set up, you need to handle the current mess in your closet. It is time to go on everything out and get rid of those items you don't want any longer. First, dispose of everything that you just no longer wear. If it has been over a year since you last wore it, do you actually need to have it? Additionally, get rid of clothes that no longer fit. Hanging on to items that you think you might wear once more some day is a great way to add clutter and mess to your closet. You might need to think about bins to store out of season clothing.

It's best to make a design and adhere to it prior to heading out to get your new storage system. It is too easy to purchase more than you really need if you do not have a strategy. Now that your closet is clean and you have determined what you are going to allow to stay, decide how best to organize it. Do you want shelving, additional hanging space, a place for your shoes? Think these things thru, then decide on the systems that make the most sense to you.

Since you have now organized your closet, be sure to take the time to keep it this way. It is too simple for your closet to become cluttered once again. You've got to make an effort to maintain your new closet. Shoes have a place now, make sure they go there.

If a drawer system is part of your design, make sure accessories go directly into their drawers immediately after washing. When seasons change and you start to rotate clothes, be certain to put out of season attire in your storage bins. Failure to do so can only cause extra clutter, which will set you back on the path to a messy closet.

A clutter free closet will aid you psychologically and physically. Not only will you feel calm when entering your space, but you may never have to search frantically for a lost shoe or a certain top that you simply must have. - 29958
